Joomla 1.5 Installation - Imageflow
Wednesday, 25 June 2008 07:11

Install ImageFlow for Joomla like you would any other Joomla module. Log on to the administrative backend and click on the Extensions | Install/Uninstall menu item.

Note: If you are upgrading from a previous version of Imageflow you do not need to uninstall the previous version to install the new version. If you have created your own cascading stylesheet for the previous version you will need to make a copy of the imageflow.css cascading stylesheet supplied with Imageflow and reapply your changes.

The ImageFlow module parameters will be displayed in the Module edit screen. In the details section, select 'Yes' in the 'Enabled' item. This will enable the module for use by Joomla. The 'Position' item displays as a dropdown list of positions that you can select to tell Joomla where you want the module displayed in the current default template.

A standard Joomla plugin called 'Content - Load Module' is used to display the Imageflow module in an article. It's function is to load a module into an article wherever you place the phrase loadposition xxx (surrounded by braces) inside the article's contents. xxx is the module position of the module to load. All modules with a module position value of xxx will be loaded at that point in the article. To guarantee that only the ImageFlow module is loaded, a unique module position needs to be defined. You can actually click on the 'Position' field and enter any value that you want. I chose to use the value 'imageflow'. Click on the position field and enter a unique position.

The remaining module parameters (shown below) control where Imageflow gets the images to be included in the gallery, various options defining how the thumbnails are generated as well as several behavioral attributes of the gallery.  Click on the Configuration menu item above to get more detailed information regarding these settings.
